Trends come and go, but one thing we love about them is that they sometimes find their way back to center stage. Then, of course, there are others that never truly leave the spotlight.

One trend we don’t see exiting the stage anytime soon? Tonal dressing!

Choosing pieces of the same color tone throughout your outfit, or using pieces that share the same color in slightly differing shades to build your look. Equal parts bold and understated, we love how this trend balances both perfectly. We also love how this trend is perfect for every occasion and wardrobe. Whether you’re dressing for work or for a wedding, tonal dressing can hit the right notes.

This trend can be seen from the red carpet to your daily routine. Doja Cat took tonal dressing to an all-new level in her all-over red look. Jennifer Lopez took a much more understated route with her formal, cream-hued look. Rosalia played with different textures to create a multi-dimensional look for her performance, while Anya Taylor-Joy embraced a dramatic, single-tone and texture look.

There are so many ways you can embrace tonal dressing, and they all look just as good!

Dressing in one color or similar shades of the same color may sound easy on paper, but that may not always be the case.

Sure it can look sleek and sophisticated, but it can also fall flat or feel uninspired. If you do want to try your hand at tonal dressing, start small.

An easy way to embrace tonal dressing without much effort is with a coordinated set. Keep it simple with our Ella Sleep Short, Ella Sleep Top, and Ella Robe combo. They all come in a dusty blue that makes for a super cute sleep look that’s great for movie nights or to take on vacation.

If you want a look that can take you from day to night then try teaming our Blake Ankle Pant with our Elouise Top. Finish it off with the Grandiose Coat and Valentina Ankle Boot. This look brings texture thanks to the luxe finish of the coat and the fun print of the top. But it still embraces the navy theme throughout every piece.

Want to introduce tonal dressing to your workwear? Our Quinn Pant, Quinn Jacket, Quinn Flat Shoe, and Obsession Cami make for a killer combination. They all come in a chic black color but the pearl shoe detail, and satin fabrication of the cami add dimension to your look that makes every piece stand out on its own.

Hopping on the tonal dressing trend doesn’t need to take you too far out of your comfort zone. In fact, you may have even discovered by now that you’ve been tonal dressing without realizing it for years!

Is tonal dressing your current go-to, your future go-to, or just not for you? Don’t forget to let us know how you feel about the trend in the comments below!
