Klaus (2019)

A beautifully animated movie about a postman who has to work in the most remote post office in the world to impress his father. This is a story of perseverance, self-discovery, community, friendship and grief that will have you reaching out for a few tissues in heartfelt moments and belly laughing at others with a balance that makes this the perfect family movie but believe me when I say, that this is an enjoyable watch regardless of age.

It's A Wonderful Life (1946)

This is the OG "be careful what you wish for" movie. George wishes he was never born  after a bad day however an angel called Henry intervenes and takes him on a journey to see how different so many people's lives would be without him. This movie is for anyone who has had this very thought, it will make you think about all those in your life that would miss you, who love you and it makes you realise how lucky you truly are to be alive and be on this crazy ride we call life as well as think about how much you impact others positively without knowing it.

Home Alone (1990)

This is the quintessential 90's Christmas movie with some of the best quotes and it is obvious why. Hilarious booby traps,  heartwarming family moments and of course, Macaulay Culkin as possibly one of the cutest kids ever - what more could you want? Even after all this time the comedy still holds up and we all love a little nostalgia from time to time. Macaulay just got honoured with this star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame too so what a better way to celebrate. Don't forget to tell them to keep the change, the filthy animals!

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)

Who doesn't love a musical? I know I sure do especially when it is balanced with a heartwarming story about family and how connection can bring you back to life. After a deep betrayal, a toymaker is provided new hope when his granddaughter enters his life and gets him to start creating again. This movie boasts a fantastic soundtrack, incredible sets, humour and emotion in spades and will quickly become a new family favourite.

Little Women (1994/2019)

If Die Hard is a Christmas movie then this means that Little Women is also a Christmas movie which is fine by me! Little women follows the story of the March family and their 4 daughters finding their way in life and society. Christmas is one of the best parts of the movies with Mr.March returning from the war finally reuniting with this family, the family gathers around the piano and they sing and eat and hold each other close. This movie has emotional moments in spades but it is a beautiful coming of age story about love, family and following your heart because those that love you will support you.

A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

A timeless holiday classic that beautifully captures the true spirit of Christmas through the endearing Peanuts characters and the charm of Charlie Brown's heartfelt journey to find the perfect Christmas tree. The poignant message about the commercialization of the season and the true meaning of the holiday can resonate with audiences of all ages. Its heartfelt narrative and iconic jazz soundtrack make it a must-watch.  Plus, who doesn't love to watch Snoopy dance?

Happiest Season (2020)

This romantic comedy follows a woman planning to propose to her girlfriend at her family's holiday gathering. With its relatable characters, familiar family issues, humor, and a blend of festive warmth and LGBTQ+ representation, "Happiest Season" adds a modern and inclusive touch to the traditional Christmas movie lineup, making it a delightful and essential watch for the holiday season. A sidenote for those with sisters: this movie could make you want to hug her for a long time.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

This festive classic directed by Brian Henson combines humor, heart, and a catchy musical score to retell the iconic Christmas story. With the lovable Muppet characters taking on Dickensian roles, the film offers a unique and entertaining twist on a familiar narrative, making it a joyous and essential addition to any Christmas movie marathon. Kermit and Christmas together? The perfect combination.

Love Actually (2003)

"Love Actually" earns its place as a must-watch Christmas movie with its ensemble cast and heartwarming intertwining stories. Directed by Richard Curtis, this romantic comedy captures the spirit of love during the festive season. Through its mix of humor, romance, and poignant moments, "Love Actually" has become a beloved holiday staple, offering a delightful celebration of love, connections, and the magic of Christmas. Just be ready for that one scene with Joni Mitchell involved!

The Grinch (2000)

The film showcases Carrey's transformative performance as the Grinch and captures the charm of the classic story. With its imaginative set design, colorful visuals, and Carrey's hilarious antics, this rendition of the Grinch's journey from a holiday-hating recluse to a heartwarming celebration of Christmas has secured its spot as a festive favorite for audiences of all ages. Not to mention, we all love Max!

Now you're all set with a festive feast for your eyes and soul! These 10 must-watch Christmas movies, from the timeless charm of "It's a Wonderful Life" to the modern whimsy of "Jingle Jangle," encapsulate the true essence of the holiday season.
